Have you previously completed a private lash extension course, either in person or online, and now want to have your existing skills and experience formally recognised?
You may have heard about nationally recognised training and wondered what it means, whether you need it, or what it could add to you as a lash artist and business owner.
This pathway is designed for lash artists who have already completed lash extension training with us or elsewhere and would like to have their existing skills and experience assessed against the nationally recognised unit SHBBMUP008 – Apply Eyelash Extensions.
It is not an initial lash extension training course and does not teach you how to apply lash extensions. If you are new to lash extensions or have not yet completed your foundational training, please choose an initial lash extension training course instead.
We offer the following beginner lash extension courses:
Gaining the nationally recognised unit SHBBMUP008 – Apply Eyelash Extensions means your lash extension skills have been assessed against nationally recognised training standards in Australia.
A nationally recognised unit is different from a private course certificate. A private certificate generally confirms that you completed training with a particular provider.
A nationally recognised unit is issued through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) — in our case, we are partnered with Central Safety Training & Assessing Services Pty Ltd, t/a All States Training #32577 — and is recognised within the Australian vocational education and training system.
No, you don't. You don't need to have the nationally recognised lash extension unit to open a lash business or start taking clients.
However, when you are working around someone's eyes as a lash artist, trust is important. Having your skills assessed and gaining SHBBMUP008 – Apply Eyelash Extensions can help show clients that you have been assessed against a nationally recognised standard.
For you as a lash artist, this can mean:
You don't need this unit to become a lash artist, but having your skills formally recognised can help you build trust in your business.
RPL is a way of recognising the lash skills and knowledge you already have from previous training and experience.
If you've already completed a lash extension course, whether online or in-salon, you may be eligible to have those skills assessed towards the nationally recognised unit SHBBMUP008 – Apply Eyelash Extensions.
Rather than completing another full lash course and paying to learn what you already know, we help guide you through the RPL process — working alongside our RTO partner, Central Safety Training & Assessing Services Pty Ltd, t/a All States Training #32577 — using your existing skills, training and experience.
You've already done the learning. RPL is about getting those skills formally recognised.
We've made the RPL process as simple as possible. Because you have already completed lash training, the focus is on showing evidence of the skills and knowledge you already have.
